About The Job

Transport Services is seeking a Technician Assistant to join the outstanding Service Division at our Cleveland, Ohio branch. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, hardworking individual with limited experience. The Technician Assistant will receive invaluable, on-going training from our highly talented and experienced Service Technicians in order to develop the TA’s skills to the point of promotion to a full-time Service Technician within 1-3 years.

The primary function of the Technician Assistant will be assisting the Technicians with mechanical repairs to semi-trailers, diesel trucks, and various other vehicles. The TA will also be responsible for various other tasks including, but not limited to, pick-up and delivery of parts for service jobs, as well as, building and yard maintenance.

This is a full-time, first shift, hourly/non-exempt position. The Technician Assistant has the option to work four 10-hour days (7:00am - 5:30pm) or five 8-hour days (8:00am - 4:30pm). We offer a competitive hourly wage based on experience.

Experience/Skills Required:

2+ years of education in trailer mechanics or diesel mechanics
Must provide own tools
Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
Willing and able to perform rigorous manual labor tasks
Self-motivated
Hard-working
Reliable
Eager to learn
Works well with others
Must be able to read and write
Occasionally move parts and/or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time
Must be able to bend
Must be able to use power tools
May be required to work more than 8 hours during a workday

Preferred, but not required:

Semi trailer repair experience
Diesel Truck repair experience
Welding/fabrication experience
Electrical/Refrigeration experience
Building maintenance experience
Construction trade experience
Commercial Driver’s License

The Location

The Cleveland Branch of Transport Services is our original branch and current Corporate Headquarters. TSI Cleveland was remodeled in 2017 and is equipped with a state-of-the-art workout facility with recently renovated locker rooms. Cleveland’s Service Division includes an 18-bay shop that provides maintenance and repair services for heavy duty trucks and semi trailers. The Service Division works in tandem with our on-site Lease-Rental, Sales, and Parts Divisions.
