History

Transport Services began with one man and one trailer in 1976. The company was founded in Cleveland, Ohio by Albert Therrien. Today, Transport Services buys, sells, leases, and services semi-trailers throughout Northeastern and Central Ohio.

How We Got Where We Are Today

Transport Services first opened our doors for business in 1976, buying, selling and repairing semi-trailers. We’ve seen a lot of changes since then. Our business grew from five employees in a rented space, to two locations with more than 70 employees and 50,000 square feet. We are proud of what we’ve achieved over the past 48 years.

1976

Transport Services is Founded

Transport Services, Inc. was founded by Albert Therrien as a sales-only semi-trailer dealership in Cleveland, Ohio.

1980

First Location Opens in Strongsville

The company's first physical location, a single rented room in the upstairs of an attorney's office, opened in 1980 in Strongsville, OH.

1982

Company Moves to Brook Park

As the business grew in 1982, Transport Services set up operations on the West-side of Cleveland, Ohio, adding short-term rentals, representing new trailer manufacturers, and launching the parts division.

1985

Transport Services Moves to Brunswick

By 1985, Transport Services had grown and another move was made to Brunswick, Ohio. This location provided visibility from I - 71 and gave Transport Services three service bays and room to expand the parts division.

1990

Company Moves to Current Location in North Royalton

A growing trailer rental fleet and used trailer inventory triggered the decision to move again in 1990.

After years of searching for a location with enough land to accommodate the company’s current and future needs, Transport Services purchased 16 acres of land in North Roylaton, Ohio and built what is Transport’s current Corporate Headquarters.

The new 10,500-sq-ft building included spacious offices, as display area, and a four-bay service shop. In addition to building a new facility, the land was graded and surfaced with asphalt and 9,000 tons of stone, and a drainage system was added.

1996

Shop Expands from Four Service Bays to Eight

When the new facility was built in 1990, the shop was scaled back from seven services bays to four bays to make a larger investment in the yard, with plans to add the remaining bays in the future.

The shop expansion was completed in 1996, adding four new service bays to make the shop an 8-bay shop instead of the 7-bay shop that was part of the original design.

2004

Transport Services Becomes Dealer for Cheetah Chassis

The company made the decision to partner with Cheetah Chassis in 2004 to meet the growing demand for new chassis.

2006

Four Additional Bays Added to Service Shop

In 2006 an additional four service bays were added to the shop to accommodate the growth of the Service Division, expanding the number of service bays to 12.

2011

Toledo Drop Location Added

The addition of the Toledo drop location in 2011 met a growing need from our Northern Ohio/Southern Michigan customers to have access to inventory that was nearby and available for 24/7 pick-up.

Company Joins Aurora Parts and Service Network as a 5-Star Dealer

In 2014 Transport Services joined the Aurora Parts and Service Network as an authorized parts distributor and service provider.

2012

Adam Therrien Named President of Transport Services

Adam Therrien was appointed President on January 1st, 2012, marking the transition to a second generation company.

2013

Corporate Headquarters Office Expansion

The upstairs of our corporate office was remodeled to add three offices and an open workspace to accommodate our growing sales team.

2013

Transport Services Becomes a New Dealer for Hyundai Translead

Transport Services partnered with Hyundai Translead in 2013 to sell and lease new Hyundai equipment, handle warranty claims, and sell genuine parts at discounted prices.

2014

Company Expands Service Capabilities with Addition of Mobile Service Fleet

To meet the growing demand for fleet maintenance, Transport Services expanded the company’s service capabilities through the addition of a Mobile Service fleet in 2014.

Addition of New Tire Building

In 2016 a building was built on the property to accommodate the need to change tires on our rapidly growing lease/rental fleet regardless of the weather.

Transport Services is Recognized as a 2016 Top Place to Work

Transport Services was recognized as a Top Place to Work by the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Aurora Parts Names Transport Services as Dealer of the year

Transport Services was recognized as the 2016 Dealer of the Year by Aurora Parts and Service Network.

2017

Corporate Headquarters Grows from 16 Acres to 30 Acres

In 2017, the company purchased 14 acres of adjacent land to expand the yard and complete a large addition to the original building.

2017

Corporate Headquarters Building Renovation and Expansion

The company’s largest expansion was completed in 2017 with the addition of four new service bays, a 10,000 sq-ft parts warehouse, a workout facility,men’s and women’s locker rooms, outdoor patio, and new offices and lobbies for the Service, Lease-Rental, and Parts Divisions. The existing shop was also repainted. In addition to the building expansion, lighting and video surveillance were installed throughout the entire 30 acre complex.

Company Expands Into the Columbus, Ohio Market Through the Acquisition of Tra-serv

Transport Services acquired Columbus-based Tra-Serv, adding a second location in Ohio.

Transport Services was recognized as a Top Place to Work by the Cleveland Plain Dealer for the third consecutive year.

For the second time in three years, Transport Services earned recognition as one of the fastest-growing private companies in America.

Remodel of Columbus Location

The newly acquired Columbus location completed the transition to a full-service semi-trailer dealership, including a complete remodel of the existing building. This location now has Sales, Parts, Leasing & Rental, and Service Divisions.
